Yeast cell factory for mRNA bioproduction

Yscript Coordinator awarded with Charité Fellowship

We are happy to announce that the Yscript Coordinator, Chantal Pichon (University of Orléans & CNRS) has been appointed as visiting professor at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) Center for Regenerative Therapies. She receives a grant from the Charité foundation in the framework of the ‘Private Excellence Initiative Johanna Quandt’ to start a collaboration research on the exploitation of mRNA technologies for T cell therapies with Prof. Dr Hans-Dieter Volk and Dr Michael Schmück-Henneresse from BIH Regeneration center.

On 11 January 2023, Professor Pichon received her certificate from Dr André Lottmann, Leiter der Geschäftsstelle Stiftung Charité. From now on, our Yscript Coordinator will be in Berlin regularly to move forward her new project. We congratulate Chantal to this great success and wish her all the best for her work at BIH.

The Private Excellence Initiative concentrates in particular on sponsoring outstanding individuals in all phases of their academic career. It supports individual projects generating a major added value for translational and systems medicine-oriented research.

Being an expert in mRNA research, Chantal leads the Yscript Consortium in the development of tailor-made mRNA out of yeast establishing a specific bioproduction and purification process. Proven successful, this would decrease the cost and complexity of the production of vaccines for diseases and epidemics that are rampant worldwide.
