Yeast cell factory for mRNA bioproduction

RNA biomanufacturing workshop at UBI

Yscript project partner University of Beira Interior (UBI) will host a hybrid workshop titled “RNA Horizons: An Inspiring Bridge Between Generations”, showcasing the RNA biomanufacturing process.

The workshop will take place on September 22nd at 2 pm at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Health Sciences at UBI in Covilhã, Portugal, featuring talks by guest speakers Professor Katalin Karikó and Professor Chantal Pichon.

Katalin Karikó, 2023 Nobel Laureate, is internationally recognised for her pioneering work that enabled the development of mRNA-based vaccines used in the COVID-19 pandemic. Chantal Pichon is Professor for innovative therapies and nanomedicine at the French Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. She is also the coordinator of the Yscript project and a renowned researcher in the field of RNA-based therapeutics.

Following the plenary sessions, on-site participants will be invited to explore the interactive circuit “RNA Uncovered: An End-to-End Scientific Tour”, composed of several thematic stations presenting each step in the RNA biomanufacturing process – from production and purification, through stability assessment, to formulation, delivery, and detection. With the application of RNA-based therapeutics steadily expanding, this workshop aims to foster dialogue and share knowledge in a rapidly evolving field.
